My company Groove Jones worked with President’s Choice Children’s Charity to develop an innovative educational digital platform, “Power Full Kids,” and an interactive game, “Sunny’s Bee-utiful Food Adventure,” to foster a love for learning about food, cultivation, and sustainability for young learners while providing a user-friendly and comprehensive learning environment. In late 2025, Groove Jones teamed up with the President’s Choice Children’s Charity to build “Power Full Kids”—a vibrant, digital learning platform built to inspire children around food, nutrition, gardening, and cooking. This collaboration marks the charity’s first pan-Canadian digital initiative combining their food access programs with a rich, educational experience designed just for kids.
A Game That Teaches Growth and Cooking Through Play
The jewel of the platform is a WebGL point-and-click game titled Sunny’s Bee‑utiful Food Adventure. This interactive experience guides children through gardening and cooking, teaching them how food grows from seed to table—and doing it in a way that feels like fun. The game is built around the three guiding principles promoted by the charity: Clean, Careful, and Confident.
Players choose to start with either growing ingredients or diving straight into cooking. In the growing mode, they pick seeds—carrots, tomatoes, blueberries—select tools, tend the soil, sow seeds, water and harvest crops, then track progress through an in-game checklist. As part of this journey, the game reinforces safety and hygiene: items like a hat and sunglasses teach kids to stay safe and clean while gardening.
Once the harvest is ready, the cooking portion begins. Players collect tools and ingredients, practice safe food preparation, learn basic cooking skills—like cutting and pureeing—and ultimately serve a meal. Their performance earns them a score, and good choices and safety-conscious behaviors are rewarded with badges and points.
This playful format transforms essential life skills—growing and cooking food—into an engaging reward-driven adventure, helping children build confidence and practical knowledge.
Empowering Educators With Custom Content and Lesson Tools
Beyond the game, “Power Full Kids” offers a full-featured digital dashboard and content management system aimed at educators and administrators. It allows creation of learning content, lessons, quizzes, and activities that match curriculum goals. Teachers can build slide-style lessons—featuring images, calendars, quizzes, and media—and assign student accounts. Learning content can be themed around food, nutrition, or kitchen skills.
Additional tools include a recipe library, a “Plate Full Planner” for meal-planning, a calendar to schedule cooking or growing lessons, and group-management tools for classrooms or clubs. All of this helps integrate food education into school programs with the flexibility to adapt to different class sizes or age groups.
The platform also supports bilingual education and offers reporting tools so administrators can track student engagement, performance, and progress. This makes it easy to integrate into real-world school settings and adapt to classroom needs.
Engaging Design, Positive Reinforcement, and a Welcoming Mascot
Visual design played a key role. The user interface is colorful, friendly, and inviting—full of animations, cheerful characters, and bright imagery of fruits and vegetables. At the heart of the platform is a new mascot, Sunny the Bee, who guides children through lessons and games. Sunny helps embody the spirit of exploration, growth, and nourishment central to the program.
As children complete lessons, games, and cooking tasks, they earn badges, points, and recognition. That reward system is designed to foster pride, build confidence, and encourage continued exploration of healthy food and cooking habits.
To launch the platform, Groove Jones also produced a 15-second animated spot—available in both English and French—to introduce “Power Full Kids” to families and schools across Canada.
A Holistic Approach: Nourishment, Education, and Empowerment
“Power Full Kids” stands out because it merges two vital aims of President’s Choice Children’s Charity: providing nutritious meals and empowering children with the knowledge and skills to grow and prepare their own food. The charity’s mission has always centered on removing hunger as a barrier to learning and helping children build a strong foundation for lifelong healthy habits.
With this digital platform, the charity is evolving its impact—combining real-world meal programs with meaningful education in food, nutrition, and sustainability. For educators, it means a ready-to-use, fun, and flexible tool to enrich their curriculum. For students, it’s an interactive journey that teaches responsibility, confidence, practical skills, and appreciation for where food comes from. For communities, it offers a scalable way to support healthier, more resilient futures for children.
