In the early nineties, I was a designer in Dallas when I landed my first sports trading card design job for Press Pass. That work turn into a nearly decade long run, designing cards for Press Pass, Finish Line, Playoff, Topps, Upper Deck and a few others.
I was the designer for the very first sports card to integrate player used memorabilia in it - this was the 1995 Press Pass Burning Rubber cards. These cards integrated race-used tires from a driver during a specific race. Cards were limited to 500 each. Here are some of the designs form this set which included Dale Earnhardt (October 8, 1995 2nd place finish at the UAW-GM Quality 500) Jeff Gordon (1st place finish May 20, 1995 Winston Select race), Kyle Petty (June 4, 1995 Miller Genuine Draft race), Sterling Marlin (February 19, 1995 Daytona 500 win), and Mark Martin (October 8, 1995 1st place UAW-GM Quality 500 win).
Note that all of these cards were from my personal collection. The cards were usually serialized. Since I was the designer, my cards were hand pulled and were not released in a pack, so they were not serialized.
